Taking the Pill of Long Life and Abundance
May 1, 2024In the song of Moses, he says that the Lord is his strength and has become his salvation.
In the Psalms of King David, he says that the Lord is his strength and shield. His heart trusts in Him. Further, the Lord is the strength of His people and a fortress of salvation for His anointed one.
Throughout Biblical history, servants of God have spoken about the strength of the Lord. They have experienced it firsthand. Each of them has a testimony of what the Lord has done in their lives. It is a manifestation of God’s strength. Each experience with the Lord built their spiritual strength and faith in Him. Their spiritual strength in the Lord increased over their lifetime for them to become the people we admire today.
You can also increase your spiritual strength like they did. Your faith in the Lord is unlimited with the horizon open before you. Who would have thought that Moses, the fugitive Prince of Egypt, would one day be the greatest Prophet in Israel? Or how Jesse’s youngest son, a shepherd, would one day become the King of Israel?
Yet despite all their shortcomings, Moses and David loudly acknowledge the strength of the Lord in their lives for how they have turned out to become dependable men in their country. Their spiritual strength in the Lord increased and propelled them to their status.
What happened with them can also happen with you in your life if you follow in their path.
It takes hours of dedicated hours of training to build your muscle strength. The more they get used to heavy lifting the stronger they become. The same applies to your spiritual muscles. Your strength improves with every weight you take on. There is only one coach fit for this job – God. You can only do better under the guidance and supervision of your coach. He has a rule book that will help you learn what to do to improve your spiritual strength. You must get up to speed.

1. Keep a record of all your victories.
In Christianity, a record of a victory is called a testimony. It is remembering how you managed to win the last obstacle because it was miraculous. A testimony is an admission of how the Lord helped you overcome a challenge. It serves to encourage you that you (or anyone who hears the testimony) can also overcome future challenges as you did the last one. It is important to testify about what the Lord has done if you want to improve your spiritual strength in the Lord.
A young shepherd, David, testified about what the Lord had done for him. This helped him to build his spiritual strength and have the confidence to ask King Saul to allow him to fight Goliath. He testified of how he had fought a lion and a bear when it came to take a sheep from the flock. He killed both of them (at different times) and rescued a sheep from its jaws. He was confident that he would defeat Goliath.
Fighting and defeating Goliath signified an improvement of his spiritual strength. He understood that the fight was not just physical but spiritual and this led him to slay Goliath with a single sling shot to his head. Just as David’s testimony was useful in improving his spiritual strength, so is your testimony useful.
Do not be ashamed to speak about what the Lord has done for you. It will improve your spiritual strength.
2. Have confidence in the ability of your coach.
Having confidence in the ability of your coach is a characteristic of a good trainee. Your mind and spirit become ready to accept his guidance on how to improve your strength. There is nothing that shall stand in your way thereafter. If there is someone confident in the Lord, it is Moses. He was sure about what the Lord would do and did not second guess Him.
Moses’ spiritual strength grew from the time when God appeared to him in a burning bush that was not being consumed. His faith in God increased from that time. He was confident that nothing was impossible with God. The Lord later struck Egypt with ten plagues through Moses, fulfilling every word that He spoke in His name. This increased Moses’ spiritual strength further. The power of God was all over the Israelites’ journey from Egypt to Canaan. He divided the Red Sea, healed the bitter waters at Mara, provided Manna from Heaven, and water from a rock.
Although it was difficult at first, the Israelites eventually learned to believe in God for provision and everything. This improved their spiritual strength even when they entered the Promised Land. There was a positive report from two out of the twelve spies and the Israelites conquered their enemies.

The series of successes by the Israelites was because they trusted in God. This is what will also happen when you trust in Him. Your spiritual strength will improve and you will be victorious like the Israelites were.
4. Go the extra mile.
Someone who knows what they want will go the extra mile to find their treasure. The same is true with someone who wants to improve their spiritual strength. Consider how candidates prepare for their final exams. They put their best foot forward because they understand that the results of their exams will determine their next academic or career level.
Dedicate your faith training time with the Lord if you want to improve your spiritual strength. Accept, with humility, the challenge to devote yourself to being molded by the mentors whom God has put in your life. This is the extra mile you have to go to improve your spiritual training. You have a guarantee of a transformed spiritual life.
This is what happened with the boy Samuel when his mother, Hannah, took him to the temple to fulfill her vow. The boy grew up under the watchful eye of Eli, the Priest. His spiritual strength in the Lord increased and the Lord used him mightily.
You can improve your spiritual strength in the Lord if you are committed. It will also improve your relationship with Him. Start small and the Lord shall see you through to the end. It is written that the end of a matter is better than its beginning.
