Embracing the Beauty of Change in the Universe
July 6, 2024The Passover is a very special moment in the life of a Christian. It is the time when the Israelites commemorate their liberation from slavery in Egypt after four hundred years. It was huge and miraculous. It took God’s intervention to use Moses to return to Egypt and fulfill his noble mission – to unleash the power of God in Egypt.
Significant highlights of the Passover made it special to the Israelites. The mighty hand of the Lord through His servant, Moses, pushed the Pharaoh to allow them to go to the wilderness to worship their God. The Israelites experienced their Passover moment after God had hit Egypt with ten plagues. It was all part of God’s plan to harden the heart of the Pharaoh before showing him His power.
Similarly, this is how you can sometimes experience your Passover moment – right when you are in the middle of the fire. The Lord is assuring you that you can survive any hardship. He will see you through it and come to your rescue. You are yet to see how much the Lord can do for you until you experience your Passover moment.
Preparing for your Passover moment.
God has a way of preparing you for your Passover moment. He prepared the Israelites for their freedom and He eventually delivered them out of Pharaoh’s hand. He is invested in your life as He was with the Israelites and will end your pain. The preparation of the Israelites for the Passover mirrors yours. You can prepare for your Passover moment like they did in the following ways:

  Slaughter a lamb.
God, through Moses, instructed the Israelites to slaughter a one-year-old male lamb without blemish. They would slaughter the lamb, one in every household, then smear the blood on the doorposts and lentils of their houses. This was the first step in the preparation for the Passover. The blood of the lamb was a sacrifice for the atonement of sins.
God acknowledges that we are sinners and initiated to reconcile us with Him after the fall of the first man. He offered His son, Jesus Christ, to come into the world and die for our sins. John the Baptist testified that Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
You do not need to sacrifice a lamb as you prepare for your Passover moment. Jesus became the Lamb of God for you. Accepting salvation is your first step to live your Passover moment. Your redemption is coming.
Eat the meat of the lamb with bitter herbs and unleavened bread.
God instructed that the meat of the lamb should not be eaten raw or boiled with water but roasted in fire. The Egyptians worshipped livestock and roasting lambs was to spite them. It also indicated that their freedom was upcoming. This was a step further in preparing for the Passover.
After receiving salvation, God wants you to embrace it wholly. He warns against being lukewarm because He will spit you out of His mouth. Salvation is a way of life and not an event. Accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life is the beginning of a good relationship with Him.
Welcome Jesus into every part of your life as you prepare for your Passover moment and do not keep anything away from Him. Your relationship contributes a lot to how He will save you from trouble. He saves those who believe in Him to do it without any doubt.
  Wear your belt and sandals.
It was clear how God wanted the Israelites to eat their last meal in Egypt. He wanted them to do it in a Hurry. Their stay in Egypt for 400 years had come to an end and it could not be extended in any way. God wanted them to experience a sense of urgency in eating their last meal in Egypt
Now that you have welcomed Jesus into your life, He wants you to be ready to do His work. Christianity is a calling to a lifetime of service. Wearing a belt and shoes appeals to your outward appearance. Its spiritual version is the uprightness of your spirit. Your spirit will be neat when you obey the word of God.
Involve Jesus fully in your life and let your life reflect all His teachings. This takes you closer to your Passover moment – the time God has appointed to rescue you.

Carry a staff on your hand.
God instructed the Israelites to carry a staff besides wearing a belt and sandals. A staff is an indication that they will be going for a long hike, not a short walk around the house. Having one would be very helpful since the journey from Egypt to the Promised Land was long.
A staff in the hand of a Christian signifies a long-term vision and foresight to go far. God wants you to have a vision in your life. Do not be distracted by your current tribulations. It is your vision that will support you as you move from Egypt to the Promised Land. Involve God in it and He will support you to the end.
You can walk without a staff and still reach your destination. However, you will get tired quickly. You need a companion to walk with you through life. What better companion is there besides a God-ordained vision?
  Eat in a hurry.
The last instruction on the preparation of the Passover to the Israelites is that they should eat in a hurry. It symbolized their intolerance to stay in Egypt a second longer. They wanted to quench their thirst for freedom. They would finally know how it felt like to rule themselves.
God wants us to be mentally prepared for our redemption. The Angel of the Lord killed all the firstborns of the Egyptians to force the hand of Pharaoh and will likewise redeem you from financial or health distress. This is the freedom that your body, mind, and spirit should be ready to accept.
Besides, food gives the body energy that is useful in all the body functions. Mental preparedness is the source of energy your spirit needs.
Your time for your Passover is coming. It may look like it is far away but the Lord will make it happen. Start getting prepared for it and live through every stage. Healing from body and mental diseases, freedom from your oppressor, and freedom to make independent choices are waiting for you after you live through your Passover.
