Heaven is traditionally believed to be the home of God, the Angels, and Saints. God calls Heaven His throne and the Earth His footstool. It is where all believers hope to go after finishing their time on Earth. Heaven is a land of peace and joy without any sorrow or pain. Consider what the White House or Buckingham Palace looks like. The beauty of the place, the glory, the decorations, and the ambiance. Heaven is more beautiful and glorified than both of them combined. If the home of a President or King can look that beautiful, how much more is it with the place where the Lord calls His throne?

The promise of eternal life is to those who believe in the Son of God. Heaven is the place where believers spend the gift of eternal life. Most people desire to see Heaven or even visit briefly to experience first-hand what it looks like.

God wants us to listen to the Prophets on what they say about Heaven. It is our opportunity to learn about it and how we can qualify to have our moment in Heaven.

Those who enter Heaven to enjoy the gift of eternal life do so on merit. They meet the threshold that God has put for the saints. Reflecting upon their lives, we can draw valuable lessons that will lead us to have our moment in Heaven.

Enoch.

The Bible speaks highly of Enoch – He walked faithfully with God; then he was no more because God took him away. He is the first person whom the Bible speaks of to have gone to Heaven. The primary qualification that made God take Him was his faithfulness.

God values faithfulness so much and looks for it in His people. It is the constant loyalty you have towards God that will qualify you to enter Heaven. After the fall of man, the world was corrupted even during Enoch’s lifetime but his faithfulness qualified him to go to Heaven.

Do not lose your faith in God even when you are pushed to the wall. Your loyalty is your ticket to Heaven. Hold it firmly.

Elijah.

He was the second person (Enoch was the first) to be taken to Heaven without tasting death. Elijah was a Prophet during the reign of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel. The Queen persecuted the killed all the Prophets of God, except Elijah who managed to run away. Yet despite the threat to his life, Elijah was faithful to God. He is one of the prophets who served God during very difficult times.

The Prophet Elijah was taken to Heaven on a chariot of fire. He left His servant Elisha behind. The life of Prophet Elijah reflects faithfulness and devotion to the work of God. This earned Him the privilege of going to Heaven without dying.

You shall also go to Heaven when you devote yourself to God’s work. Your moment in Heaven is coming soon as it did with Elijah as long as you serve the Lord with all your heart. Do not be discouraged by the Queen Jezebel of your time. She is temporary but God’s favor on you is permanent. Be devoted to His work.

The Vision of a New Heaven.

The Lord showed Apostle John the Vision of a new Heaven and a new Earth. In this vision, the first Heaven and Earth had passed away and there was no longer any sea. This symbolizes significant changes from how we knew things before. God wants us to focus on the new Heaven that He is creating for us. While we were initially created for the first Heaven, God has created the second Heaven for us like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. This is His promise to us – His dwelling place is now among His people.

God is coming closer to you and not waiting for you to go to Him. His love for us, which led Him to give His Son to die for our sins, has also led Him to come and live among us.

Your second chance to enter Heaven.

Faithfulness and devotion to God’s work (that Enoch and Elijah exhibited) are still attractive traits to qualify you to go to Heaven. However, they are not the only ones now that God has made His dwelling place among us. You can have your moment in Heaven through the second chance that He is offering you as He makes everything new.

•       You will drink from the spring of the water of life.

In the new Heaven, God promises to quench your thirst by giving you the water of life. This is the same water that Jesus promised the Samaritan woman at the well. You will no longer want the things of the world or be tempted by them after you drink the living water. It is a reward in the new Heaven that the Lord has created. Living water speaks the truth about your life the way Jesus told the Samaritan woman the truth about her life. Welcome to your moment in Heaven.

•       Your life will be well-decorated.

Everyone wants to look beautiful and wear a nice fragrance. The new Heaven that God has created shines with the glory of God like a very precious jewel. This is an irresistible beautiful decoration. This well-decorated Heaven is the bride of the Lamb. Your life shall be decorated like the new Heaven because you have accepted the Lamb (Jesus Christ). Your shame shall be taken away and you will be clothed with glory. This is your moment in Heaven.

•       You will be well-protected.

The new Heaven has a great high wall with twelve gates. The names of the twelve tribes of Israel were written on the gates. In addition, there were twelve angels on the city’s twelve gates. It indicates the high protection in it. It is also how God shall protect your life from the world’s dangers. In His prayer, Jesus asked God to protect His disciples because they are not of the world. As a disciple of Jesus, your life is protected by the angels at the gates of the new Heaven. This is your moment in Heaven.

You can live your moment in Heaven while still on Earth. This is the new Heaven that God has created for His people. He now dwells among us.
