The spiritual realm is the best place you could ever want to be in. Unlike the physical world, it is anchored on faith in God. It is the first place a Christian runs to if he/she wants to be successful. Prayers made in the spirit and the desires of your heart manifest in the physical world after the spiritual realm is petitioned. Whatever goes wrong in your life already went wrong in the spiritual realm. Similarly, whatever is successful in your life starts from the spiritual realm.

Life in the spiritual realm is like how soldiers or soccer players position themselves on the battlefield or pitch respectively. The commander of the battalion or the coach of the soccer team plans their performance. It is how each team member will position themselves and deliver a win for their side. As they execute their respective roles, team members understand the weight of their actions. They will either crown the whole team with honor or carry the cross of shame for the entire lot.

How to take the correct position in the spirit.

1. Embrace fellowship.

Jesus perfectly understood the significance of taking the correct position in the spirit. He sent the disciples in pairs to preach the gospel. He also asked them not to take anything except what they had in their spirit. This reflects Jesus’ teachings on taking the correct position in the spirit – to have a witness (symbolic of going in pairs) and having trust in the divine provision of the Lord (symbolic of taking nothing with them) in their missionary work.

God greatly encourages fellowship with fellow believers. They will hold your hand and pat your back to motivate you in the work of the Lord. Jesus opened the eyes of the disciples to the importance of fellowship with each other and they carried this in their ministry even after the ascension of Jesus. You also need a brother or sister in Christ to be your prayer partner. Both of you will fill the gap of fellowship in the lives of each other.

2. Practice prayer and fasting.

Your position in the spiritual realm can give you leverage to receive answers to all your prayers quickly. This reality can also be seen in the strategies that good teams make to seek victory. It is like when soldiers follow through with their attack plan to surprise the enemy. It is also similar to how soccer players stick to their game plan to win their matches.

In Christianity, prayer and fasting are some of the best-calculated moves that a Christian makes to win battles in the spiritual realm. Jesus taught His disciples about this important move that placed them in a better position. During His ministry, He ministered to the people who came to His meetings. He healed the sick, raised the dead, cast out demons, and even fed the big crowds.

However, one day His disciples were unable to cast out a demon from a boy. They took him to Jesus and He effortlessly rebuked the demons in the boy and he was healed immediately. He later explained to the disciples why they were unable to exorcise the demons out of the boy. This is when He revealed that some work in the ministry is only possible through prayer and fasting. It empowers your spirit to fight spiritual battles easily and minister before the Lord.

3. Listen from the Lord.

Most Christians only fulfill one part of prayer (talking to God) and forget about the other part (listening to God). Both parts make a prayer complete. Listening to the Lord is important to every Christian so that you may hear what He has to say about your life. He will renew your strength in the face of temptations so that your faith may not fail. Consider hearing from the Lord like hearing from your soccer coach or army commander.

First of all, you are eager to hear from either of them because they have a command for you to obey. You are a single item in the whole chess board and the sooner you play your part correctly, the greater your chances of winning the game. It is important to listen to the Lord to successfully navigate through life. Jesus taught that blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it. He will lead you not to fall into the pit that many have fallen into. The Lord has a message for you daily. Make it your goal to listen to Him throughout your life and you will not be disappointed.

4. Humble yourself before the Lord.

God openly says how He resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humbleness determines your position in the spiritual realm. It attracts God into your life the way it was with Moses. It is written that Moses was the most humble person on the face of all the Earth during that time. This greatly influenced Moses’ quality of life and how God used him to redeem the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Humbleness will lead you to acknowledge the work of God, not to take His glory. Your life shall be a platform for the glory of God.

This sets you up for a higher blessing according to the will of God. You could be in a position of honor at the moment and this is for the glory of the body of Christ. This was the case with Queen Esther during the reign of King Ahasuerus. She took her position in the spiritual realm with a lot of courage and saved the lives of all the Jews in the Kingdom at the time. Her meekness earned her favor before the King who was ready to even give her half of his kingdom. Humbleness is a strategic position in the spiritual realm.

It is important and wise to take your position in the spiritual realm through ways that please the Lord. Once you do, this is the beginning of spiritual freedom for you and the body of Christ.
