Understanding the Nature of Reality in the Universe
July 25, 2024Eden was Adam’s first home. It is where God put Adam after creation with two instructions – to till and keep it. Adam’s first assignment was in Eden and he performed exceptionally well. God’s intention was for Adam to be busy and productive. He created a place that could nurture his gift of work. Eden was a very beautiful garden that had everything Adam needed. He made every tree grow in it that was pleasant to the sight and good for food.
God also put the tree of life in the middle of the garden and another tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Besides the beautiful vegetation, four rivers watered the garden – Pishon, Gihon, Tigris, and Euphrates. The land through which the rivers passed had all types of precious stones – gold, bdellium, and onyx. This is where God wanted to put Adam – inside a beautiful heaven on Earth.
Life in Salvation is a new beginning. You are the new Adam whom God wants to place in Eden – a beautiful garden glowing with the beauty of God’s glory. There is neither sin, pain, nor death in Eden. Everything grows from the ground without breaking a sweat. Your primary duty here is as the first Adam was commanded by God – to till and keep the garden.
What is in your Eden?

Adam took time to know his new environment. There are things that he found there and others he did not. He also paid attention to God’s instructions about taking care of Eden. God permitted him to eat from any tree except that of the knowledge of good and evil. As he was familiarizing himself with his new home, God brought all the birds and animals He created for him to name them. Whatever name Adam gave them, it stuck.
It is good to ask yourself as Adam did, “What is in my Eden?” We can explore our Christian life in Eden and live there comfortably. There is a lot we will discover when we explore our Eden that will make our Christian life fun and fulfilling.
1. You are in the image of God.

You are special out of all creation because you are created in the image and likeness of God. Adam was created the last one in the order of creation because he was a special being. God wanted to create someone in His image who would live in the world and represent him effectively. After creating him, God breathed into his nostrils and man became a living being. It is an added proof of how special man is.
Your Christian life should also be in the image of God. It is an exploration that God wants you to look into. There should be a difference between your lifestyle and that of unbelievers. Let the world see the image of God in your character, culture, and routine. The Bible teaches that our light should shine before men so that they may give glory to God for it.
2. You are a worker.
Among nature’s creation, man is born to be a worker. He takes after God who is also a worker. He worked during creation for six days and rested on the seventh day. God is industrious and He gave us part of it.
In Eden, He instructed Adam to till the land and keep it. It was his job description. Even long before God planted Eden, the Earth was empty because rain had not fallen and there was no man to till the ground. The creation of man was to fill this gap. As children of Adam, we also inherit the spirit of a worker. Whatever career you could be in, its job description includes taking care of God’s creation. It is the default setting that God programmed us into.
Your Christian life should reflect the working spirit that God gave us. Devote yourself to your work and do it satisfactorily as if you are doing it to God. He loves productive workers and He leads from the front line.
3. You are a superior creation.
One of the main reasons for creating man was for him to rule and subdue the Earth. He gave him power to have dominion over all creation. This responsibility made man superior to everything. Only God is above him. It was man’s choice to decide what to plant in what place and how to tend to the animals. The intelligence of man ranks higher than that of the rest of creation. The human race is civilized and can afford the existing lifestyle because God made us superior.
The superiority of the human race extends to the present day where we see great innovations and civilization is at its peak. Your Christian life can reflect life in Eden through how you rule over your livestock and pets. Take great care of them because God commanded us to do it.
4. You have the freedom of choice.

The freedom of choice was also in Eden in the beginning. After God put Adam in the garden, He gave him the freedom to eat from any tree except one – the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the middle of it. God could not have put the tree in Eden in the first place but He did. Instead of making decisions for Adam, He was open about the consequences of eating the fruit. In full knowledge of this, Eve was deceived by the serpent to eat it and she gave some to her husband. Again, God did not come down from Heaven to stop either Adam or Eve. He gave them the freedom to make their choices.
Your Christian life should reflect the freedom of choice God has given all of us. He wants you to make choices after understanding the consequences. These choices should align with what He wants for you or else the consequences would be a burden. God will guide you to make godly choices.
Your Christian life in Eden was great before sin and death entered the world. Stay in Christ and you will experience the beauty of Eden in your life.
