The reward system works perfectly as a motivator to show up the following day at work. The reward could be daily or weekly wages, monthly salary, or commission for work done. Sometimes, the reward does not take the form of money. The reward could also be a favor or a promotion. Whatever form it takes, it transforms the life of the receiver of the award. The excitement and adrenaline rush of receiving an award is always there. It does not care whether you are young or old, male or female, a Christian or a gentile. If a worldly reward from our superiors or employers can transform your life, how much more shall it be with God’s reward? It is written that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

The life of a Christian is a blessed one with God at the helm of it. Your work in His ministry and devotion to serving other people increases your reward. In salvation, good behavior is rewarded and bad behavior is punished. It is to encourage believers to follow the good path and abandon their old ways. God is like a responsible parent who instills discipline in his/her children. It is His pride when we grow up disciplined to follow the right teachings. He then rewards us so that we can keep on doing the right thing.

Types of rewards and how you can get them.

1. Long life.

Most people desire to live a long and fulfilling life. Did you know that a long life is a form of reward from God? Death was not in His original plan. It came as a punishment after the fall of man. Our lifespan was reduced from living forever and Adam lived for 930 years, Abraham for 175 years, and Moses for 120 years. The fifth commandment that God gave to Moses – honor your father and mother – is the only commandment with a promise. The promise is that your days will be long in the land that God gives you if you obey this specific commandment. The other way you can win this reward from God is by loving Him. God declares that He shall honor you with a long life and show you His salvation. In addition to that, He promises to deliver you from trouble. Honoring your parents and loving God are the two highlighted ways you can earn the reward of a long life.

2. Power to get wealth.

Wealth is a mark of success. It is among the many reasons why people work so hard in their respective fields. Some succeed in becoming rich while other people do not. However, God rewards His children with the power to get wealth. This power makes you unstoppable in the face of persecution. Isaac, Jacob, and Esau were as successful as Abraham who was their father. Their wealth was a reward for their remembrance of the Lord who made a covenant with them. The power to get wealth comes from the Lord after you earn it by remembering Him in your life and putting Him in the front seat.

3. Healing of the body and soul.

Health is one of life’s biggest blessings. The Lord gifts it to those who fear Him and depart from evil. He promises health to your body and strength to your bones. While other people seek health from hospitals at a fee, the Lord is giving it to us for free if you earn it in the way he requires of you. God wants us to bless Him and not forget all His benefits. He will then heal your body and spirit when you dedicate yourself to serving him. In your service to God, He may use you to work miracles of healing.

4. Peace of heart.

Peace of heart comes from the assurance that you are safely in the right place. There is no better place than being in the Lord’s fold. There is no room for worry here because God takes care of you. Your entire life is His concern so you do not have to worry about anything. The Bible narrates how God takes care of the flowers and birds of the air. His peace shall guard your heart and mind throughout all the phases of life. You can earn this reward by unconditionally accepting the divine peace that Jesus left His disciples as your portion too and stop the unnecessary worrying.

5. Comfort in distress

Distress comes with restlessness. Your mind and spirit are disturbed over a matter that you are unable to solve. It can happen to you anywhere. This is not the portion of Christians. His word will give you comfort in affliction. When you are in trouble, remember His unending promises to you. He shall surely fulfill His word because He is not a man that He should lie.

6. Superior knowledge and wisdom.

The price of wisdom and knowledge is too expensive. Those who cannot pay for it end up committing costly mistakes that will dent their lives forever. God does not want ignorance to be your portion. He has rewarded us with hidden wisdom that the world cannot understand. This superior knowledge was in the revelation that God took the form of a man and was born by a virgin betrothed to Joseph. Jesus ministered on Earth for 3½ years and groomed the Apostles who spread the gospel to the whole world. This knowledge was hidden from the whole world so that God’s plan of salvation was fulfilled. You earn this reward from God by putting your faith in the power of God. The more your faith in Him increases, the greater the divine wisdom and knowledge you receive from above.

God rewards us in different ways. Our lives have footprints of His rewards and fingerprints of His love. He is a good father. There is a way of earning these specific rewards. His word, inspired by the Holy Spirit, has laid it all down for us. You are His child with the right to earn all His rewards.
