Building and Maintaining your Relationship with Heaven
July 25, 2024Auditing is normal and recommended in every business sector. It opens your eyes to the areas that need improvement and those with a lot of potential. This informs your next many steps. Just like businesses and companies, your spiritual life also needs auditing. It should be done by a competent auditor with the authority to guide you through compliance. There is only one auditor whom God has given us for this noble task. He is Jesus Christ. He accepted this responsibility when He came to the world to mend our relationship with God by dying for our sins on the cross. No one goes to the Father except through Jesus. He is the auditor who gives you the spiritual compliance certificate to go to the Father.
There are many benefits of letting Jesus audit your spiritual life. The first one is how you automatically qualify for heavenly blessings because you have been acknowledged by a higher power. It does not matter how ugly your past was or how unqualified you see yourself. Once Jesus audits your life, you become the property of Heaven and eligible to receive its divine blessings. Spiritual audit is a turning point in your life that you should always look forward to.
There are Biblical examples of the people who allowed Jesus to audit their lives. Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector, experienced a first-hand spiritual audit that turned around his life. Jesus Christ agreed to eat in his house. When the Holy Spirit convicted him of his sin, he announced he would give half of his possessions to the poor and pay back four times the amount of money to anyone he had cheated.
Jesus, the chief auditor, declared that Salvation had entered into the house of Zacchaeus because he was also a son of Abraham. This is a classic case of what happens when light meets darkness. It is also what happens when you undertake a spiritual audit of your life.

Things to expect when Jesus audits your spiritual life.
- Remorse for your sins.
Zacchaeus was remorseful of the bad things he had done in the course of his work as a tax collector. This was evident when Jesus came into his house. His reputation was not good among the people who wondered in the first place how Jesus would accept to enter into his house. What other people did not know was that Zacchaeus was experiencing a spiritual audit by the chief auditor.
Have you ever felt remorseful for your sins? This is a sign that Jesus has entered into your life and is auditing it. You should do what Zacchaeus did – to repent and make amends for his past mistakes. God will be pleased with you when you do this.
-
Freedom from guilt.
Another Biblical figure whose spiritual life was audited is Simon Peter. As Jesus was with them in the vessel, Simon fell to His knees and asked Him to go away because he was a sinner. This was guilt speaking through Simon Peter. It marked the beginning of Peter’s spiritual audit by Jesus. At the end of it, he was a changed man whom Jesus proudly agreed to build His church upon. Peter was no longer timid. He could confidently say that Jesus is the Son of God. This is something he never did before the spiritual audit.
Allow Jesus to audit your life and free you from the guilt of sin. He will enable you to put away all the ungodly habits and adopt new godly ones. Simon Peter’s hot temper (that led him to cut off a soldier’s ear during the arrest of Jesus) changed to become a patient minister to the crowd that gathered during the Pentecost.

Divine happiness.
Your heart will have eternal joy after Jesus does an audit of your spiritual life. It happened with the disciples when Jesus sent them to preach the gospel. Jesus told them to not just rejoice because the spirits submitted to them but because their names were written in Heaven. This was the first time Jesus had sent the disciples to do evangelism. They were overjoyed by the things that they witnessed in their ministry. What enabled them to see the breakthrough in their ministry was the successful audit and compliance of their spiritual lives by Jesus. There was no legal ground that the devil would hold on to accuse them of before the Lord.

Sometimes the joy of life is lost because you have not allowed Jesus to do an audit of your spiritual life. Once he does it, sadness runs out of your life never to return and happiness becomes your second name. The audit will open your eyes to the things that make the Holy Spirit sad and you will avoid them. You will focus on the things that make God happy. This gives your life a new meaning.

Desire to show other people the light.
When an audit of your spiritual life is done, you will desire that other people embrace it too. It becomes automatic that you want to see them be as happy as yourself. This was what happened to Philip and Nathanael. Philip was called by Jesus and he in turn called Nathanael to follow Jesus because He is the one whom Moses wrote in the Law and the prophets prophesied about. The power behind Philip’s inability to keep the good news about Jesus to himself was the spiritual audit that had happened when Jesus called him.
It pleases God to witness you lead other people into the light. His favor shines upon you and you become a candidate for a Godly reward. The Holy Spirit later used Philip to preach to the Ethiopian Eunuch and even baptized him. It is an extra point of glory in Philip’s spiritual life. It all began with the spiritual audit that Jesus did by calling him into the ministry.
There are many benefits of a heavenly audit of your spiritual life. It is something that you should always be looking forward to. It has changed the lives of everyone who experienced it.
